The European Investment Bank (EIB) and HBOR have secured 500 million euros for SMEs, mid-cap companies, and green projects, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and mobilizing investments in Croatia.

Key points of the agreement:

  • Total financing amount: 500 million euros, of which the first tranche of 200 million euros has already been signed.

  • Purpose of the funds:

    • 70% of the funds are intended for local SMEs and mid-cap companies.
    • 20% of the funds are reserved for green projects, in line with the EIB's climate objectives.
  • Distribution method: HBOR will channel EIB funds to Croatian companies and public sector entities either directly or through local financial intermediaries.

This loan is expected to significantly contribute to the EU's cohesion policy objectives and support green projects, mobilizing investments in the Croatian economy of up to one billion euros.

EIB Vice-President Teresa Czerwińska emphasized that HBOR is the leading provider of green financing in Croatia, which is a key priority for the EIB under the Climate Bank Roadmap. She also expressed satisfaction with the delegation of green financing decisions to HBOR.

This collaboration between the EIB and HBOR will further strengthen financial support for Croatian businesses, particularly in the area of green investments, and will facilitate the absorption of EU grants and structural funds.
